The establishment of the first German seaside resort in 1793 also saw the beginning of health treatments in Bad Doberan and Heiligendamm. Even today, excellent results are guaranteed by the combination of a sojourn by the sea, long walks, treatments using local peat moss, Baltic sea water and the bracing maritime climate. Treatments are available for the following conditions: diseases and complaints of the spine caused by wear and tear, inflammatory rheumatism, operations and accidents; metabolic and nervous disorders; tumours affecting muscles and bones. Simultaneous treatment of accompanying respiratory diseases, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and skin complaints are also provided. Special types of therapy such as naturopathic treatments and combined orthopaedic pain therapy are available.
